Reading Sri Aurobindo

Published by

“Sri Aurobindo maintains that according to the original teaching of the Vedas, the Upanishads, and the Bhagavad Gita, impersonal Being, personal God, and individual self, are inseparable and equally real modes of existence of the same supreme reality. They are all essential factors in the structure of Being. Impersonalty signifies the formless and boundless essence of Being. Personal God represents the power of creative intelligence inherent in Being. The individual self represents Being in its individualized mode of existence.”

(there’s a lot bigger description I can go into, if there’s an interest, but it’ll have to wait until tonight).

But in the meantime…

This makes for a really interesting esoteric spin on the idea of Father/Son/Holy Ghost in Christian doctrine for me.

Father = Personal God
Son = individual self
Holy Ghost = impersonal Being
