Although each part of the compound subject is singular (ranger and camper), together (bound by and), each part becomes a plural structure and must therefore accept a plural abbreviation (see) to match the sentence. Rule 5a. Sometimes the subject is separated from the verb by words like with, as well as, next to it, not, etc. These words and phrases are not part of the topic.
