Day 171 of Staying the Fuck Inside

We’d found an old copy of MacKenzie’s 5,000 Receipts a while back. I’m having trouble remembering when or where. This edition is from 1857, and is one of those books that tells you how to do just about anything.

My grandfather once owned something similar.

I found this tucked away this afternoon, while looking for something else. To my delight, there’s an extensive winemaking section (on how to make wine out of just about anything), that includes steps for making white wines red, making red wines white (the chemistry is pretty sound even if the mechanics aren’t explained), and the ever important steps one should take to protect one’s wine from thunder.
